Description: In 1988, in connection with the revival of the national consciousness, a folklore group in Salcgriva is formed: October 10 in joint-stock company Brīvais vilnis Culture house the leader of the artistic amateur performances Edīte Erdmane gathers all interesteded. We feel a big satisfaction and joy - already on the first rehearsal.
During 10 years we have accumulated many songs. We like very much our sea and fishermen, therefore songs about the sea sound with us more heartfelt than others. We sing also wedding, christening, funeral songs, songs of calendar and family rites. We play roundelays, recently we have started just to play music for hearing.
Since we are the only folklore group in the district, we have a lot of work. Often we perform in schools, kindergartens, boarding houses. We participate actively in all the Latvian folklore arrangemants. We have participated in festivals Baltica 1991, 1994 and 1997 in Latvia, as well as in Baltica 1995 and 1998 in Estonia.
